President's Report
I always find February and March busy times of the year for the Trust. This year is no exception. Besides preparation for the Annual General Meeting, this year there are two elections to consider.  It is nice to have another two items associated with Parramatta Council area in this eNews.  Dealing with two local councils keeps me on my toes, so to speak. Thank goodness the whole of the 2119 postcode falls within the NSW Seat of Epping. But we won’t be so fortunate with the upcoming Federal election because Beecroft south of the M2 falls within the Seat of Bennelong!
Expect an additional ‘Meet the Candidates’ meeting in April. I will stress again “the Trust is only as strong as the community support it receives” While the Trust Committee tries to keep all the residents informed of current events we do need fresh faces and more particular for residents south of the M2 to join the Trust committee. Please consider seriously nominating for a position on the Trust Committee.

Beecroft Cheltenham Civic Trust Annual General Meeting 2019
The Trust will hold its AGM on Tuesday 19th March 2019 at the Beecroft Bowling Club, commencing at 7.30pm.  Guest speaker will be Hornsby Council’s Group Manager of Planning James Farrington, who will provide residents with a summary of changes to the planning legislation. These changes will impact on Beecroft and Cheltenham.
Please seriously consider joining the Trust Committee to ensure the Trust’s survival.  We must continue to have a regular flow of committee members to adapt to external changes in our society.

New South Wales State Government Elections - Reminder
We will all be voting on Saturday 23rd March 2019.  The Trust has booked the Beecroft Bowling Club (Beecroft Club) in Copeland Road for a “Meet the Candidates” evening on Tuesday 12th March 2019, commencing at 7.30pm sharp. This is traditionally an event where the Trust invites all candidates for the local Seat of Epping to address the residents of Beecroft and Cheltenham.  The meeting will follow a similar format to previous years with each candidate given a 3 minute timeframe to present their views, followed by a formal Q and A segment.
Supper will be provided following the meeting at 9.15pm, providing the opportunity for residents to chat informally with the candidates until 10pm. The Trust will not have the bar open for the evening.
At the time of publication of this eNews, there are 3 candidates standing for the Seat of Epping; Dominic Perrottet for the Liberals, Alan Mascarenhas for Labor and Simon Margan for the Greens.

Epping Civic Trust “Meet the Candidates’ meeting Tuesday February 19th
If you want to get an insight into what the Candidates are like, Epping Civic Trust will be conducting a ‘Meet the Candidates’ night on Tuesday 19th February 2019 at the Christ Church Hall, Bridge St Epping, commencing at 7.30pm. The Meeting will be following the Epping Civic Trust’s AGM.

Dence Park Swimming Pool at Epping
Many residents will recall the vocal public meetings at Hornsby Council about the future of the Epping Pool at Dence Park.
Parramatta Council are now the owners of the pool and are holding public consultations on the future development of Epping Pool and Craft Centre.
The next consultation will be on Saturday 16th February 2019 between 10 and 12 at Dence Park Epping.

Clean Up Australia 2019 – Beecroft Village Green - Reminder
Sunday 3rd March

Clean Up Australia for 2019 will be held on the 3rd of March between 9am and Noon. We have found in the past that three hours are sufficient for each group to clean up a designated area.
As in past years, the Trust will set up at the picnic tables on the Beecroft Village Green and head out to the regular hotspots for rubbish throughout our two suburbs. Anyone interested in participating can either register their name online before the day or simply turn up on the morning and fill out the form provided. (Please note, as of last week the CUA website CLICK HERE still does not have Beecroft in the system).
White bags will be available for rubbish and yellow bags for recyclables. Wear sensible clothing and bring your own gloves. All welcome of course but children need to be accompanied by an adult.

Planning review for Parramatta City Council - Reminder
Residents living in Parramatta LGA are strongly encouraged to read the planning documents and submit comments. The proposed changes to controls including land sizes and building heights have the potential to seriously affect your quality of living, for better or for worse. Once approved and gazetted the controls will become a statutory document.

Parramatta City Council is preparing new planning controls to replace the existing Hornsby planning controls that apply to Beecroft south of the M2. The notification email sent to the Trust with its website links can be opened CLICK HERE. Parramatta Council is seeking feedback on their discussion papers. This review proposes to change the existing Local Environmental Plan (LEP), which is a statutory document, plus the accompanying Development Control Plan (DCP) which will contain the supporting guidelines. Proposed residential changes to Beecroft include minimum lot size and maximum dwelling height. The Trust recommends that you compare the suggested changes with the existing controls and make a submission if you have concerns.  Exhibition closes on Monday 4th March 2019.
Affordable Housing Discussion Paper
The Hornsby Shire Council is seeking your feedback on the Discussion Paper and any other options we should consider to address affordable housing in Hornsby.  CLICK HERE to access the discussion papers. Exhibition closes on Friday 1st March 2019.
